New Beginnings

I'm finally settling into my new place and getting the last stuff in place before my house warming next weekend. Just a few more things need to be done for the apartment to be "done" and this weekend was probably the first one in ages when I allowed myself a few moments of doing nothing including taking a bath, lying down in bed mid-day (imagine that!) for a few moments and posting on my blog (hurray!).

A million things have happened since the last time I've actually written anything. I've unpacked and now have just small adjustments to do. I'm actually living in my very own place. I just had my personal development chat a week or so ago and I seem to be doing well at work. Still waiting for the Jerry Maguire moment, but that's supposed to come within a couple of days now. Curious how it will correspond to my expectations. My boss also suggested a career planning session in December with himself and the main man - interesting... :o).

The new year's coming up which means new activities, new goals and new trips! So what's coming up in the world of Gee? I'm looking forward to having the weekends off (no more Sunday classes), no more depressing step-up classes on Tuesdays (I quit) and I hope to get new fun classes instead. I'm looking forward to take up a new dance class - perhaps ragga or dancehall? Portuguese studies are in sight... not that things went so well with cognitive psych, but I'm hoping to find Portuguese easier for me to pass and that it'll help me with keeping up the language skills.

I'm also ahead with my new year's resolutions and I'm set on eating healthier. I'm reading a book by Fredrik Paulún since yesterday and I planned out my week with healthy food and nutritious snacks. Keep your fingers crossed!

An trips... Poland for Christmas, new year in New York and then vacation in India - all booked and confirmed. I can't wait :o)!

Canada

I'm dissappointed and surprised. The recent incident at the airport in Canada goes against my previous impression of the country and its inhaitants. I somehow thought that a country that has numerous immigrants and, in my eyes, more reasonable policy on accepting foreigners would also have a more resonalble way of receiving people at airports.
Can anyone tell me, why no translator was at site? Or embassy representative? No to mention, that having seen the below 9 min film om youtube and having no medical training, even I can tell that it seems as though the man was in physical discomfort prior to the police arriving. So, why no doctor?
I also really hope that the comments on him speaking Russian were only made by passer-by's and not by the staff/Police, which would be just another proof of ignorance and lack of organization.
